About Brian

I’ve lived in Tacoma, Washington, USA for fifteen years. Liana and I have two kids and one ancient cat. Before that, we lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan for over a decade—a span of time that included his-&-hers bachelors and masters degrees, plus the start of my consulting career.

What else to say? I read. I walk around my neighborhood. I hang out in libraries and meet friends for coffee. I could take better care of the garden but have come to enjoy the scruffy, overgrown look.

  1. The monthly, Tacoma-based Emerge (Kaizen) Coffee. We meet at a different locally-owned cafe each month for conversation on continuous improvement and related topics.
  2. An informal sangha with Tacoma Buddhist Center. We sit weekly for meditation followed by community, readings, and discussion. You are welcome to join anytime.
  3. The Center for a Loving Workplace and its Principles Project. An attempt at applied speculation: what might it be like to work in organizations bound by love instead of fear?
  4. Lex Roman’s ‘Legends’ network. A few hundred people figuring out how to do their best work. (Join the fun.)
