Publishing schedule
Newsletter subscribers receive at most two mails each month:
- first, monthly notes, sent on the first Tuesday of the month, and
- second, a regular blog post, sent on the third Tuesday of the month.
I update the site more often than this, via additional blog posts that aren’t sent out as e-mail newsletters (but are announced to those following along via RSS, social media, etc.), and via updates to static content pages and sections (such as the Quote barn, Recommendations, or HOWTOs).
I take August away from the site entirely, and skip the third Tuesdays of December. With these exceptions, I try to adhere to the schedule above. This is as much for me as it is for you.

Recommending Ghost(Pro)
This is a simple way to keep this project running, with the ease of Ghost’s elegant, no-fuss content management, Ghost(Pro)’s handling of e-mail newsletter delivery, and the convenience of using a theme created with care by somebody else. These three let me spend time on ideas and words, not services and files. I’ve done—and do—enough of that elsewhere.

Style guide
I have not been consistent over time. Trying to be more so lately. No harm in keeping notes visible.
Punctuation
- Block quotes
<bq>don’t need surrounding quote marks. - Titles use sentence case. Name of the site does not. Oops.
- Use ampersands (&) in titles, headings, and excerpts, except after punctuation where it looks weird (the ‘looks weird’ rule):
- Like this → ‘this, that & the other’
- Also → ‘this, that—and the other’
Word choice
- Banned words:
just,here, …
